Magnificent Calendars

Privacy policy · Last updated 27 October 2026

Magnificent Calendars needs no account, shows no adverts and does not track you. Your photos, family dates, countdowns and settings stay on your own device and are never uploaded. Location is optional, approximate, and used only for your region and the weather.

1. Who we are

Magnificent Calendars is published by Magnificent Apps ("we", "us", "our"), an independent app maker based in the United Kingdom. We are responsible for any personal information described in this policy. You can contact us at any time at appsmagnificent@gmail.com. Our website is magnificentapps.com.

Magnificent Calendars is a calendar app for Windows and for Android phones and tablets.

Sunrise, sunset and the colours that follow the sun are calculated on your device. Public holidays for more than 200 countries (from the open Nager.Date project) and the history stories are built into the app.

3. When the app goes online

Most of Magnificent Calendars works entirely offline. Only these features use the internet:

  • Live weather (Full Range). The app sends your approximate location, rounded to about 10 km, to our small weather server, which asks Open-Meteo for the forecast and sends it back. Your exact position is never sent, and the server does not keep your location or any record that identifies you. See the Open-Meteo terms and privacy. You can switch live weather off at any time.
  • Extra pictures and calendar content. Some regional pictures and content packs download when you need them. The request contains nothing about you.
  • Microsoft Store and Google Play, for purchases.

Like any internet connection, these services see your device's IP address so they can send the answer back. Until live weather and content downloads arrive in your version of the app, it makes no internet connections at all.

Location

Location is optional. You can simply choose your city instead. If you allow approximate location, it is used to pick your region's holidays and sunrise times, to show landmark and landscape pictures for where you are (Full Range), and for live weather. The app never asks for precise location, and you can switch location off in your device's settings at any time.

Your photos, videos and music

When you choose a photo, video or music file for your calendar, wallpaper or Family calendar, you pick it with your device's own picker, and the app only reads the files you choose. They are never uploaded, copied to a server or shared. Postcards you create with "Send a Day" go only where you choose to share them.

4. Permissions

  • Approximate location (optional): for region, pictures and weather, as above.
  • Notifications and alarms: for countdown reminders, set on your device.
  • Set wallpaper: only when you ask the app to set your home or lock screen.
  • Internet: for live weather and content downloads.
  • Google Play billing: so you can buy Full Range or For a Lifetime.

The app never asks for your contacts, camera, microphone or precise location, and asks for each permission only when you first use the feature that needs it. Some permissions arrive with later versions of the app.

5. Purchases

If you buy Full Range (by the year) or For a Lifetime (once, for good), the payment is handled entirely by Microsoft through the Microsoft Store or by Google through Google Play, under the Microsoft Privacy Statement or the Google Privacy Policy. We never see your name, card or bank details. The store only tells the app what you have unlocked.

Pictures and credits

Historical and regional pictures are public domain or openly licensed, and each one is credited inside the app on the Image Credits screen.

No adverts, no tracking, no selling

  • No advertising of any kind, and no advertising code inside the app.
  • No analytics, no crash reporting, no tracking tools, no "pixels" and no profiling.
  • We do not sell, rent or share your information with anyone, and we do not use it to train artificial intelligence.
  • No account, sign-in or registration is needed, now or later.

Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), and the EU GDPR where it applies, we must explain why we are allowed to use any personal information. Your photos, family dates and any religious or cultural calendar you choose never leave your device, so we never receive them. Approximate location is used only with your permission (consent), which you can withdraw in your device settings; the weather server handles it only to return your forecast. If you email us, we use your email address and message to reply, which is in both our interests.

How long anything is kept

  • Information on your device stays until you delete it in the app, clear the app's storage, or uninstall the app.
  • We keep no logs that identify you. Our hosting providers may keep short-lived technical and security logs (for example, to stop attacks), under their own policies.
  • Emails you send us are kept in our email account for as long as we need them to help you, and are then deleted.

Where information goes in the world

The services named in this policy (such as Google, Microsoft and Cloudflare) operate worldwide, so the little information they handle may be processed outside the United Kingdom. These companies use safeguards recognised under UK law, such as the UK's International Data Transfer Addendum and standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to limit or stop how we use it, or to give you a copy. Where we rely on your permission, you can withdraw it at any time. Because the app keeps your information on your own device, we usually hold nothing about you at all, apart from any emails you send us. To make a request, email appsmagnificent@gmail.com. We will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or to the data protection authority in your own country. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

For people in the United States, including California: we do not sell or share personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.

Children

Magnificent Calendars is suitable for everyone. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, and the app never asks for it. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, contact us and we will delete it.

Keeping things safe

Your information stays on your device, protected by your device's own security (such as your screen lock). Whenever the app connects to the internet, the connection is encrypted (HTTPS). We never ask for passwords, card numbers or bank details.

Changes to this policy

If Magnificent Calendars changes in a way that affects your privacy, we will update this page before the change reaches you, and change the date at the top. If a change needs your permission (for example, a new device permission), the app will ask you first.
